Order Notes


With the new “Mark Shipped” link on the Orders Report it’s no longer necessary for vendors to put a note on every order when it’s shipped. If you’d like to leave a note that’s fine, but clicking that “Mark Shipped” link automatically sends an email to the customer to let them know you’ve shipped your item on that order.



Draft and Out Of Stock Listings


I know I said I was going to delete Drafts and OOS listings on the 15th of every month and I was going to put all OOS listings into Draft every day. Change of plans. I keep forgetting that as soon as I put listings into Draft the corresponding orders disappear from your Vendor Dashboard.

For now, I’m just going to continue putting listings that will expire within the next 3 – 5 days into Out of Stock.

Please! Let’s try to keep this new site clean and clutter free. I know some of you like to put listings into Draft so you can re-use them. I also know that we were miraculously able to delete almost 1,000 of those ‘Reusable’ Draft listings before the migration, and nobody blinked an eye when I deleted another 500 or so OOS listings.

All those un-used listings just add to the drain on the site. If YOU do YOUR part to keep this place cleaned up then I won’t have to step in and do it myself (And we ALL know what happens when I start hitting that ‘Delete’ button!)




Please be careful marking Categories on your listings. A coupon can only be in one insert so you should only choose one insert category – and we need it to be the correct category to avoid confusing the customers. I always put the next weekend’s categories on the site on Monday or Tuesday and they’ll be at the top of the list. If your coupon isn’t from that next insert, please scroll down and choose the proper insert.


Some Stats for the New Site


We’ve already processed 296 orders on the new site. It took me longer to mark ‘Paid’ to all the line items this morning than it did to actually pay you for them! Average order is at $6.53.

We purposely did not transfer customer accounts from the old site for two reasons: 1) We wanted to weed out the riff-raff, and 2) We were hoping people would clean up their shipping addresses if they had to create a new account. (Yeah, like THAT’S gonna happen!)

So far we’ve had 277 customers set up accounts on the new site. Nobody has complained about having to create a new account.

I’ve had about a dozen emails from customers who love the new site. The vendors I’ve heard from seem to like it, too. One customer complained that the site was too colorful and flashy. She has migraines and some other illness and it bothers her eyes. Personally, I think it’s the most boring site we’ve ever had but then I was raised in the ’60s and ’70s and, well… ’nuff said 🙂

Jessica and I don’t watch the customer names too closely but we’ve noticed at least 6 old customers come back since we set up the new site. Four of them hadn’t ordered from us for at least 6 months. We’ve also seen quite a few new names that we’ve never seen before.
